Standoff as police stop EFCC agents from apprehending Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi.

In the midst of a strict security operation by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the former governor's residence in Abuja, Usman Ododo, the current governor of Kogi state, paid a visit to Yahaya Bello.

Along with a number of security personnel and supporters, Ododo arrived at Bello's house on Wednesday at around 2:30 pm to voice opposition to the former governor's house being under siege.

What the governor is supposed to be doing at his predecessor's house is currently unknown.

Bello's residence in Wuse Zone 4 of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, was stormed by EFCC agents on Wednesday morning.

In March 2024, the Federal High Court in Abuja heard an amended charge brought by the EFCC against Yahaya Bello, his nephew Ali, Abdulsalam Hudu, and one Dauda Sulaiman. The charges related to an alleged N84 billion money laundering.

In response to the occurrence, the media office of the former governor issued a statement denouncing the activities of the operatives and pleading with President Bola Tinubu to warn the EFCC.
