April 26, 2024, Roseau. Ambassador Miguel Manuel Fraga Gonzalez presented the Letters of Credence designating him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Commonwealth of Dominica to H.E. Mrs. Sylvanie Burton today in a solemn ceremony held at the Presidential Palace of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The government and people of Dominica, often known as the "island of nature," were greeted by the Cuban diplomat who started the speech exchange during the ceremony. Fraga emphasised that both countries have strong connections that are built on a long history of cooperation and solidarity. He also conveyed his appreciation for Dominica's government's unwavering stance against the financial, commercial, and economic embargo that the US administration had placed on the people of Cuba. The President of Dominica, for her part, also mentioned the advancements in the two countries' relations and conveyed her appreciation for Cuba's collaboration, particularly in areas like health and education. In international forums, she reaffirmed that Dominica will stand behind Cuba and urge an end to the blockade.

Following a cordial conversation between the President and the new Ambassador, the meeting came to an end.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended an official greeting to the Cuban ambassador during a later cordial encounter. Aspects of mutual interest were explored during the fraternal exchange.

On May 18, 1996, the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Republic of Cuba established diplomatic ties. Bilateral ties are now being expanded in a number of areas, most notably cooperation. Miguel Fraga is the sixth Cuban diplomat to serve as ambassador to Dominica since that date.
